The Proverbs Advantage is a powerful, principle-based approach to life and business, rooted in the wisdom of Solomon. It helps individuals grow wealth, lead with clarity, and make decisions guided by timeless truth.
We’re living in a strange era—one where platform often trumps truth, and virality is mistaken for validity. A time when people are discipled not by pastors or Scripture, but by Instagram reels and TikTok “theologians.”
I call it Social Media Theology—and it’s costing the Church more than we realize.
If you’ve never heard the term before, you’re not alone. It’s a phrase I’ve begun using to describe the flood of spiritual content online that looks biblical, sounds spiritual, but is often shallow, misleading, or outright heretical.
And for many believers—especially the young, unrooted, or undiscerning—it’s the primary source of what they believe about God.
Let’s define it, diagnose it, and offer biblical wisdom to guard your soul.
Social Media Theology is a form of bite-sized, image-driven, algorithm-approved “truth” that shapes the beliefs of Christians—not through rigorous Bible study or sound doctrine, but through reels, memes, quotes, and short videos that often:
It’s theology filtered through likes, aesthetics, and engagement metrics.
Here’s the danger: a half-truth repeated enough becomes a whole belief. And social media is filled with just enough truth to sound biblical—but not enough truth to sanctify the soul.
“The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.”
— Proverbs 14:15
Social media theology is fast food for the soul. It may satisfy in the moment, but it doesn’t nourish long-term.
“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
— Proverbs 30:5
God’s Word is pure—not filtered, not edited, not curated for your algorithm.
In social media theology, the messenger often matters more than the message.
That’s not the biblical test.
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
— Proverbs 13:20
You don’t follow someone because they’re popular. You follow because they’re wise.
Most social theology emphasizes comfort, not conviction.
You’ll hear:
This is not just insufficient—it’s dangerous.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
— Proverbs 14:12
Everyone. But especially:
Just because someone quotes a verse doesn’t mean they’re rightly dividing the Word of truth. Satan quoted Scripture to Jesus—out of context and with the wrong motive.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
— Proverbs 9:10
Don’t build your theology on TikTok. Build it on the timeless wisdom of God’s Word.
Study the Bible. Meditate on it. Don’t just read it—be mastered by it.
“The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.”
— Proverbs 14:18
Run every reel, quote, or sermon clip through this filter:
Does this match the full counsel of God?
Does it exalt Christ or self?
Is it supported by Scripture or sentiment?
If it tickles your ears but never touches your heart—be wary.
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”
— Proverbs 11:14
You need more than content—you need community.
You need more than reels—you need real people who walk in real wisdom and point you back to Christ.
Social media theology is seductive, accessible, and dangerous.
It gives you the illusion of maturity without the cost of discipleship.
It keeps you spiritually entertained but often spiritually empty.
But Proverbs offers the cure:
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
— Proverbs 4:7
That’s not a verse for your bio.
That’s a battle cry for your soul.
So be careful, friend. Don’t scroll your way into deception. Don’t build your theology in the comment section.
Dig deep. Study hard. Walk in fear. Pursue wisdom.
Because the enemy is no longer just in the pulpit.
He’s in your pocket.
And he’s preaching.
